Tommy Paul was born in South Jersey, raised in North Carolina, and recently bought a house in Connecticut—yet he perfectly embodies the “Florida Man.” Paul drives a Ford F-150, wears a baseball cap everywhere, and enjoys fishing and boating. His adventurous, outdoor lifestyle inspired the New Balance CT-Rally v2 “Outdoor Court” edition tennis shoes.

The New Balance campaign for the CT-Rally v2 Outdoor Court features Paul in the Florida Everglades. Paul grew up in North Carolina before moving to Florida at age 14 for full-time tennis training. Last year, he spoke with GQ Sports while fishing off the coast of Boca Raton, Florida.

“When I was young, it was either tournament weekends or fishing weekends,” Paul told GQSports. “We’d go to Morehead City in North Carolina. When I moved here, I started pond fishing—they have great freshwater fish here—and then I got back to surf fishing, and as soon as I could afford my first boat, I bought one.”

Paul recently signed an endorsement deal with Yellowfin, which makes high-performance center-console fishing boats.

Although Paul sold his Florida home in January and purchased a new house in Connecticut with his influencer fiancée, Paige Lorenze, he loves the laid-back lifestyle in the Sunshine State.

His new tennis shoe blends on-court performance with a Realtree camo pattern, the go-to motif for Florida fishermen and hunters.

Even before moving to Florida, Paul enjoyed outdoor activities. His mother runs the family farm in Lumberton, New Jersey, where they have about 100 chickens, six sheep, two dogs, a horse, and a cat.

“After Wimbledon I will go home and help around the farm,” Paul told the ATP Tour in 2022. “They have hay barrels in the field. I am operating the tractor to move the barrels around. Anything from that, to pulling trees out of the ground. I am on it. Working around the farm is fun.”Whether on the farm or in Florida, Paul gravitates to water.

“Now I love to go the beach and visit the Everglades when I am home,” Paul said. “Any water sport I am into. I normally choose the beach over the Everglades, though, because I am not fond of visiting the alligators!”

Yet his shoes look like what you’d wear in the swamp.

The CT-Rally v2 “Outdoor Court” edition features the Realtree EDGE camouflage pattern, a woodsy palette of browns, greys, and neutral tones, contrasted with an electric Blaze Orange New Balance “N” logo that stands out boldly on the court.

This marks the first time the Realtree camo pattern has been used for a performance tennis shoe, according to New Balance. Additional design details include the footbed imprinted with ‘The best players in the world wear New Balance,’ highlighting New Balance’s ethos.

“Some of my favorite hours are spent outside before sunrise,” said Paul. “I grew up working around the farm, tending to animals, and fishing. Those simple moments inspire and ground me, and creating a shoe that allows me to share my connection to nature on the court is truly special.”

The CT-Rally v2 “Outdoor Court” edition cost $150 and was released in select retailers in North America and Japan last week.
