Where to Get Team USA Gear and Other Olympic Style
Ralph Lauren, Nike, Adidas and others design Olympic outfits for athletes and weekend warriors.
Coco Gauff leads the US Olympic tennis team. Ranked No. 2 on the WTA Tour, Gauff is the highest-ranked American tennis player. She’ll be joined by compatriots Jessica Pegula, Danielle Collins, and Emma Navarro in women's singles. Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Chris Eubanks, and Marcos Giron will play men's singles.
Olympic tennis starts July 27, after Wimbledon, in Paris, at the site of the French Open.
Like many professional athletes who compete in the Olympics, Gauff has an individual athletic apparel deal. She represents New Balance. Pegula has a deal with Adidas. Fritz wears Hugo Boss, and Navarro wears Fila.
However, countries strike separate deals for team attire, especially for the opening and closing ceremonies.
Luckily for sports fans, you can buy Olympic-style. Whether you want Team USA gear or to support a favorite player, if you see it, chances are, you can purchase whatever the athletes are wearing.
Athleisure will be Winning at the Olympics
Athleisure—clothing designed for exercise and daily use—continues to grow in popularity. Post-COVID-19, we live in a world of remote working and gourmet dining delivered to your home. Nobody wants to get dressed up.
When I worked in Manhattan, casual Fridays were a big deal. For the rest of the week, I wore corporate attire to my office on the 19th Floor of what used to be the Time Inc. building at Rockefeller Plaza. Even at Sports Illustrated, guys wore suits and ties, and women wore suits and ties, too. It was the 90s.
Now, every day is casual.
Clothing companies have seized on this trend. Expect to see athleisure on display at the Olympics.
Ralph Lauren Puts Team USA in Made-in-America Blue Jeans
Ralph Lauren designed the opening and closing ceremonies attire for Team USA.
According to a statement by Ralph Lauren, the Team USA collection draws inspiration from the host city of Paris and the rich heritage of Olympic and Paralympic sports. It embraces a patriotic spirit reflected in a signature palette of red, white, and blue. All the attire is made in America.
“The 2024 Opening Ceremony uniform is a distinctly modern take on a tailored look, featuring a classic tailored single-breasted wool blazer with red and white tipping and a striped oxford shirt, unexpectedly paired with a tapered jean and a classic suede buck shoe. The 2024 Closing Ceremony uniform is defined by a sporty moto-style jacket paired with white denim and a Polo shirt from the brand’s custom Create Your Own program.”
Some sizes of the opening and closing ceremony outfits are already sold out.
Meanwhile, players with endorsement deals will find ways to express themselves and the brands they represent. Gauff is wearing the New Balance Coco CG1 Unisex Tennis Shoe. Gauff wanted a shoe with a throwback look, an ode to 90s basketball style.
Adidas Official Team Wear for Paris 2024
The best thing about the different outfits is that you don’t have to come from a country to appreciate its gear. I love the German ensemble designed by Adidas.
I’m also a big fan of athleisure or loungewear. If I’m not interviewing a source or in a business meeting, I’m in comfy, cozy loungewear similar to the German outfits.
Most days, I wear black and various shades of gray loungewear. I love the tapered sweatpants. Mix and match the tops and bottoms, even combining different countries.
If I go with color, it’s royal blue, shamrock, or lime green. That’s why I am drawn to the Ethiopian, Hungary, and Irish outfits.
Lululemon Designs Team Canada to Outshine Gold
Our neighbors to the North may have topped us in style. The red outfits Lululemon designed for Team Canada might be the hippest kits at the Olympics. Team Canada is giving street fashion vibes. The outfits are available for purchase on June 25.
Nike 2024 National and Federation Kits
Nike created nearly 50 unique pieces and a dozen competition styles for the 2024 Olympics. Every piece was designed for maximum breathability and performance.
Nike’s Team USA track designs are light and sleek, ideal for runners. However, to wear these form-fitting outfits, you better be in world-class-caliber shape.
Perhaps no league has had more controversial headlines than the WNBA. But the red uniform worn by WNBA star A’ja Wilson leaves little to debate — this look is red hot.
Whatever your style or whichever country you are rooting for, you’ll have a United Nations array of apparel options.
This is just a quick note to remind my readers that I do not have any deals with any of the brands mentioned in this story and don’t accept payments, products, or commissions in exchange for coverage.
