Hey, Carla. It's like this at most tournaments outside of the Majors. That's why I say equal prize money is a myth.
It's equal at the Grand Slams but not much outside of that. And most men's matches are best of three.
Novak Djokovic has made more in career prize money than Venus and Serena combined. His career has not earned him $94 million more than Serena's. Djokovic has made almost double what Serena did, and she also played doubles. He has not been $94 million more valuable to tennis than Serena.
I'm sure Serena did better in the endorsement deals, especially in the US, Australia, and the UK. That's where she and Venus made most of their money. Coco Gauff is the same. Djokovic probably did better in Eastern Europe. In the U.S. Serena got far bigger ratings. In fact, Federer, Nadal and Serena were the biggest ratings draw in tennis for quite some time.
Enjoy reading your posts🙂. Question, why is the prize money for the men higher in this tournament?

Thanks Merlisa. Do you know how sponsorship/advertising dollars compared between Djokovic and Serena?
